Stunning bay with pub on the beach

There are many good reasons to visit Porthdinllaen including the lovely beach, the amazing views, the pub on the beach and the wildlife. Porthdinllaen is a tiny former fishing village situated on a pretty beach on the Llŷn Peninsula. Most of the properties in the village are now holiday homes or holiday lets but the Ty Coch Inn (pronounced tee cock) is the obvious exception. It has been voted one of the top 10 beach bars in the world and is a great place to enjoy lunch or a drink. Please note that food is only served 12 noon – 2.30pm.

The sandy beach itself is lovely and slopes a little more than many in the region, enabling you to reach water deep enough to swim in after just a few paces. It would be hard to beat the views across the bay to both Nefyn and The Rivals, and the water is wonderfully clear.  A narrow path at the end of the village takes you to the life boat station and then to a gorgeous small, sandy cove towards the end of the headland which is well worth visiting.

Between August and September, the rocky peninsula on which Porthdinllaen sits hosts North Wales’ largest population of Atlantic grey seals. To view the seals, swim out towards the headland from the small, sandy cove or walk up the road behind the village and make your way to the end of the peninsula. You may also see cormorants resting on the rocks and surveying the sea in search of their next meal.

To visit Porthdinallaen, park in the Morfa Nefyn National Trust car park. Exit the car park adjacent to the information board at the back and to the right. Walk down the steps to the road and then onto Morfa Nefyn beach. Turn left and walk around the bay until you reach Porthdinllaen.

Porthdinllaen is hard to beat!

Dogs

We have great news! Dogs are welcome at Porthdinllaen throughout the year and they love it! Doggies love the walk from the car park to the village and also playing on the beach. Those that enjoy swimming will think they are in heaven and the pub provides water bowls for canine visitors.
